This is a lecture I gave at the 2012 Winterthur Furniture Forum, entitled, "Clocks for Corn: Yankee clockmakers trading with the South". I spoke about how Northern clockmakers of the early 19th Century traded with consumers and agents in the Southern states. I show examples of New England clocks and their Southern owners. Among the clockmakers discussed are: Simon Willard and Aaron Willard of Boston; Nathaniel Munroe and Daniel Munroe clockmakers from Concord, Massachusetts and their cabinetmaking brother William Munroe; as well as Quaker clockmaker John Bailey Jr. of Hanover.

Wednesday night was jewellery night as some of the most precious items of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' estate came under the hammer at Sotheby's in New York.
